rock-a-thon-2014 1932-web

Enfield Mayor Scott R. Kaupin prepares to taste-test an array of baked goods at this year’s Rock-a-Thon Variety Show and Bake Sale on April 26 at St. Joseph’s Residence in Enfield, a home of the Little Sisters of the Poor.

Listening to the mayor as he jests and strategizes in the café before digging in are, from left, Mother Catherine Frain; Joann Clark, specialty baked goods donor from High Meadow Resort; Sister Patrice Ormerod; St. Joseph’s resident Dot Maggio; and volunteers and friends Teresa Dodd and Bill Kiner.

Hizzonor savored bites of lemon tart, warm scone, chocolate decadence, berry delight and more. In the end, he gave the nod to a wee but tasty cupcake that beat out even the tiramisu in this year’s inaugural competition.

Mayor Kaupin also visited the variety show before promising to return next year.

All proceeds from this third annual Rock-a-Thon will go toward roof repair at St. Joseph’s, which is home to over 80 elderly who are cared for there by the Little Sisters of the Poor. (Photo by Karen Bray)
