Archbishop Leonard P. Blair was the principal celebrant of a Mass at St. Bridget Church in Cheshire on June 14 at which Father Jeffrey V. Romans was installed as the pastor.
Father Romans had previously served as secretary to the archbishop and vice chancellor of the Archdiocese of Hartford.
In an email some days later, Father Romans said it was a "very moving experience" to be installed as a pastor.
"The installation ceremony really helps us to understand the relationship of the pastor to the archbishop, and of the pastor to the people entrusted to his care," he said. "I am so honored and happy to be the new pastor at Saint Bridget Parish and school and will certainly, with the help of God’s grace, love and care for the parish entrusted to me as Christ himself.
St. Bridget, which was established as a mission in the mid-1800s, currently has a congregation of more than 2,500 families. Its school enrolls children in prekindergarten through eighth grade. (Photo by Rick Ciaburri Studio)
