NEW HAVEN – Dominican Father John Paul Walker, pastor of St. Mary Parish, and a few of the parisioners on hand watch television on Saturday as the parish hosted a Dominican "Ordination Watching Party" on May 21.

EWTN televised the ordination of 11 men as Dominican priests for the Province of St. Joseph at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., in celebration of the large ordination class and the 800th anniversary of the founding of the Order of Preachers.

Archbishop J. Augustine DiNoia, adjunct secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith and a Dominican, was the ordaining prelate.

The province recently accepted 16 men to the novitiate at the House of Studies in Washington, D.C., Father Walker said.
