WATERBURY – Deacon George J. Dinkle, husband of Germaine (Nadeau) Dinkle of Waterbury, died on Oct. 13, 2010. He was 80.

He was ordained to the sacred order of deacon on March 10, 1978. He served as a deacon at St. Anthony Parish in Prospect and St. Leo the Great Parish in Waterbury.

Deacon Dinkle was born Jan. 19, 1930, in Waterbury, a son of the late George Herman and Elizabeth (Kobo) Dinkle. He was a sales representative for AJ Tilton in New Jersey for many years until his retirement. A former United States Marine stationed at the Navy Shipyard in Boston, he was cited for his service in the Korean War.

Besides his wife, survivors include a son, Douglas G. Dinkle of Middle Island, N.Y.; a brother, Robert Tompkins of Sharon; and several nieces and nephews.

Auxiliary Bishop Christie A. Macaluso celebrated a Mass of Christian Burial Oct. 23 at St. Anthony Church.
