PUTNAM – Sister Alice Carrow, 83, a member of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit, died on June 13, 2011, at the Holy Spirit Health Care Center, where she had resided since 2003.

She was born on March 14, 1928, in Tupper Lake, N.Y., the daughter of the late Adelard and Bertha (LaRose) Carrow. She entered religious life in 1950, and made her religious profession on Aug. 18, 1953, at Holy Spirit Provincial House. She was then known as Sister Elizabeth Adelard.

Sister Alice earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from the Diocesan Sisters’ College. She then taught in elementary and junior high schools in Waterbury, Jewett City, Moosup and Plainville as well as in Burlington, Vt., and Tupper Lake. She retired from teaching in 1995 and ministered in Tupper Lake until her move to the provincial house in 2003.

Survivors include several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on June 17 at the provincial house chapel. Burial followed at St. Mary Cemetery.
