WALLINGFORD – Deacon George A. Kraussman, 91, of Wallingford, died peacefully on April 25, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Norma Geremia Kraussman.

He was born on July 4, 1922, in Bridgeport, a son of the late George E. and Alice Troy Kraussman. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II who served in the 103rd Infantry Division Air Section in Europe.

He was a member of Holy Angels Parish in Meriden and served there as a deacon for almost 30 years.

In addition, Deacon Kraussman served as the chaplain for the South Meriden Volunteer Fire Department, ministered to the youth in Cheshire Reformatory; assisted at weekly Mass at the Meriden Senior Center and volunteered his time to the recreational programs at Gaylord Hospital.

Besides his wife, survivors include his sister, Mary Smith; sons Paul Kraussman and James Kraussman; his daughters, Martha Kaczmarek and Alain Hall; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his brother William.

Auxiliary Bishop Christie A. Macaluso celebrated a Mass of Christian Burial on April 30 at Holy Angels Church. Interment with military honors was in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden.
