The player underwent a medical examination at Bixe Stadium on Monday. He had, for several days, an agreement with the club, but he did not formalize his departure from Cruzeiro.
By beating the player Santos, he fulfills the dream of his father, Maurice, a supporter of Pixie.
– So great emotion. I can’t even describe how I feel right now. I am fulfilling my father’s dream. It’s a team I grew up watching the game play. We have waited so long for this moment. Since I was young, my father always said that his dream was to see one of his sons play for Santos, the team he loves. And he’s no more proud of being able to make this dream come true – Maicon told the Santos official website.

Maicon is Santos’ fifth booster of the season. Before him, midfielder Bruno Oliveira, defender Eduardo Bormann, attacking midfielder Ricardo Goulart and right-back Oro arrived.
Maicon was appointed by Cruzeiro at the end of last year, and football is still under the management of the club. However, salary values and other components of the contract were deemed unfeasible by the standards set by Ronaldo Phenomeno’s management.

The defender even talked about a salary adjustment with Cruzeiro, but negotiations did not progress. Last week, Ronaldo said in a live broadcast that he expected to settle the player’s situation by Saturday, which did not happen.
In addition to ending with Cruzeiro, the defender had to wait for coach Fabian Bustos’ approval for Santos to continue negotiations. Maicon was an order from Fábio Carille, a coach fired by Peixe on February 18.
Within Santos, the arrival of the defender is seen as an important signature for the technical issue and also for the leadership that the athlete exercised in the clubs he played for. He also received praise from Fabian Bustos.

Maicon played with Cruzeiro in three matches at Campionato Mineiro. However, with the indefinite contractual situation, he only started training and was no longer tied to matches. The club missed the matches against Tombense, Uberlandia, Villa Nova and Atlético-MG, for the state, as well as the confrontation against Sergipe, for the Brazilian Cup.
Maicon started his career in Cruzeiro. After that, he passed through Portugal, first at Nacional da Ilha da Madeira, and then in Porto, until he negotiated with São Paulo. In 2017, he returned to Europe to defend Galatasaray, from Turkey, from which he headed to Al-Nasr, from Saudi Arabia, the last destination before returning to Cruzeiro.
