The Maceo Health Department offers breast implants to SUS patients with a mastectomy | Alagoas

Women with cancer who need a mastectomy can undergo breast reconstruction surgery through the UHS. The service at PAM Salgadinho is offered to patients who have had a partial or complete mastectomy.

SUS patients will make an appointment with a breast specialist to assess the condition and provide guidance on the correct use of the prosthesis, which is already delivered at the end of the pre-scheduled service.

According to the Maceio Department of Health, more than 600 women who undergo an annual consultation turn to get prosthetics.

“We are a reference in this service in Maceió and we currently have a good stock of service for Maceioenses who have undergone mastectomy. After the device is delivered, the patient returns home and is entitled to an annual medical appointment for assessment and removal of a new prosthesis,” explained PAM Salgadinho Prosthetics and Orthotics Sector Coordinator , Natalia Holland.
