On Wednesday (6) Unimed-BH announced the construction of a new hospital in Contagem, in the metropolitan area.

The health unit will be on Avenida Papeta Camargos, 1695, in the industrial area of Cidade, where the network’s health promotion center is now located. For the project, Unimed-BH will invest approximately R$200 million from its own resources.

The unit will contain inpatient beds, intensive care units, 24-hour emergency care, an operating room, an imaging center and a laboratory. The Health Promotion Center will continue to function normally.

The choice of Contagem to build the project is due to the strategic character of the city, which is an important industrial center for the state.

All of this will help facilitate the movement of people, reduce the search for other health centers, and bring more flexibility in service to more than 250,000 customers in the region,” said Unimed-BH CEO Samuel Flamm.

The health network expects the new hospital to create 1,500 direct jobs and another 1,400 indirect jobs for the city in the metropolitan area. According to Unimed-BH, an institution in the metropolitan area must have 650 collaborating physicians. The company will also invest, through partnerships with educational units, in the training of specialized labor.
