Sao Paulo beat Manaus 2-0 on Wednesday at Morumbi Stadium. In doing so, the team advanced to the third stage of the Copa del Rey, the stage in which the Libertadores teams enter. The goals were scored by Eder and Diego Costa, both in the first stage.
With a tough start against a close opponent, Sao Paulo had to spin the ball to get the first chances.
So much so that at first, the team could only get there with kicks and crosses from long distances.
Anyway, Sao Paulo managed to play well and in the 35th minute of the first stage, in a combined movement, Rafinha hit the ball and deflected from Eder, and Sao Paulo took the lead.
The minimal advantage was short-lived, as eight minutes later, in a corner kick, Rinaldo struck while Diego Costa extended with a beautiful header.
In the second stage, just over 17,000 spectators in the stadium witnessed a match dominated by few chances.
Explaining them, a free kick was taken by Rigoni who blocked the crossbar for Team Amazon.
Confirming the classification and score, Sao Paulo was not affected and the match ended with a score of 2-0.
Now, Tricolor returns to the field only on Saturday, when it faces Botafogo de Ribeirão Preto to finish the first stage of Paulistão.
For the Copa del Rey, the match will be decided by a tie only.
