Federal Revenue will release a batch of income tax refunds (IR) for people who fell into the fine grid last year. An IR refund is only for those who have already settled the situation with the tax authorities. The balance will serve about 210,000 Brazilians as of April 29.
According to the revenue, the total value of the IR redemption payment can be more than R$ 180 million. Of this total, more than R$72 million will be allocated to taxpayers who have the legal preference in receiving the amounts due.
In all, there are 3,188 people over the age of 80, 25,119 between the ages of 60 and 79, and 2,296 people with some type of health disability. In addition to these, there are also 9,203 people whose source of income is only teaching.
How do I check for an IR refund?
If you are among the Brazilian taxpayers who must receive refunds from the previous IR, you can make an inquiry. To do this, simply log on to the Federal Revenue website and click on the “My Income Tax” option. Then go to “Cheque Redeem”. The page provides all the instructions and official channels to contact in order to obtain IR recovery data.
It should be noted that in the event of a dispute, the citizen has the possibility to make a correction to the document. Thus, it is possible to correct the information declared to the tax authorities.
Overdue IR refund: Where to go?
In addition, remember that the IR refund is credited directly to the bank account registered by the Brazilian. Amounts that do not find a valid account will be available at Banco do Brasil. BB service is provided by phone 4004-0001 (in the capital) and 0800729 0001 for all other locations.
If the refund is not made within one year, the application must be submitted with the government, on the e-CAC portal. Be careful not to miss deadlines.
