According to the revenue, the total value of the IR redemption payment can be more than R$ 180 million. Of this total, more than R$72 million will be allocated to taxpayers who have the legal preference in receiving the amounts due.

In all, there are 3,188 people over the age of 80, 25,119 between the ages of 60 and 79, and 2,296 people with some type of health disability. In addition to these, there are also 9,203 people whose source of income is only teaching.

How do I check for an IR refund?

If you are among the Brazilian taxpayers who must receive refunds from the previous IR, you can make an inquiry. To do this, simply log on to the Federal Revenue website and click on the “My Income Tax” option. Then go to “Cheque Redeem”. The page provides all the instructions and official channels to contact in order to obtain IR recovery data.

It should be noted that in the event of a dispute, the citizen has the possibility to make a correction to the document. Thus, it is possible to correct the information declared to the tax authorities.
